Barbera d'Asti Superiore
This wine is made from monovarietal Barbera grapes grown in a historic vineyard planted using the Guyot training method in 1937 by the parish priest of Piovą Massaia. Stretching over 2.5 hectares, this low-yield vineyard produces around 1520 quintals of grapes per hectare. Of marine origin, the soil in this area is white, with a sandy, calcareous consistency and veins of clay. The slope of the hillside faces full south. The vineyard lies beside the road between Piovą Massaia and Cocconato, in the province of Asti, Monferrato (Piedmont).
